Join Us for Our November Meeting: NOTE its November 14th the Second Wednesday!

our-story2_large

Please join us for our November 14th meeting at 7:30 pm at 2914 Monument Avenue.  Myrf Bowry and Leah Dodge the creators of Dip-a-di-do-da will be speaking to us about their story.  Please bring your purse because they will have many items for sale and their bowls make fantastic holiday presents!!!

Myrf Bowry and Leah Dodge, the award winning design duo behind 24-year-old Richmond Interior Design firm Decorum, have added decorating your table to their already impressive set of design skills with their clever new product, Dip-a-di-do-da. One night, Myrf had surprise visitors drop in for a quick drink on the way to a concert. Unfortunately, she didn’t have time to whip up any appetizers from scratch, but she did have some store-bought hummus in the fridge. She threw together some nibbles, and scooped the hummus into a bowl. This got her thinking … what if she had some kind of camouflage for the store-bought container? Something you could just drop your dip in? It would save time, and money by not wasting left over dip, it would look cute and make for a quick easy clean up. She and Leah did a little research and could not find anything like it on the market. So they created their own solution and Dip-a-di-do-da was born. Since then, Dip-a-di-do-das have been sold in local shops and online, we’ve shipped thousands across all 50 of the United States and Canada, and we were chosen out of 800 applicants to be one of five finalist in the HSN’s American Dreams Contest in conjunction with Good Housekeeping magazine and even more exciting, We won the HSN Customer Choice Winner!!!. We were thrilled to have our product highlighted in Good Housekeeping, and we were featured guests on HSN and the Pickler and Ben talk show. Our simple idea to make entertaining easy has taken off!

We think giving back to the community that supports is important, so we donate a portion of all sales to Safe Harbor here in Richmond, VA. Thanks for helping us help them!

Join us for our October Meeting with artist Ed Trask!

traskheader_1561Join us on October 17, 2018 at 7:30 pm at 3208 Monument Avenue for our October meeting with guest speaker, and local artist, Ed Trask.

Ed Trask, after growing up in Loudoun County VA. left his rural existence, moved to Richmond VA. and enrolled into the Virginia Commonwealth University’s painting program.  While in school he spent every waking hour playing music in the mid 80’s Richmond punk scene and painting.  By his third year in school, after many attempts to get gallery attention, he decided to make the many dilapidated buildings surrounding his school his gallery.  Paintings were painted directly on buildings, or done on boards and screwed onto the buildings illegally until the city was covered.  In 1992 Ed graduated with a painting degree and moved to Washington D.C. where he started touring with the Dischord records band the Holy Rollers, and continued to paint illegal murals all over the world.  Three years later he moved back to Richmond to join the band Kepone.  While the demand for his paintings started to grow, he figured he should start a gallery and make a go at mural and sign work.  Since then the work has never stopped flowing in, and Ed’s paintings and murals have been collected into many permanent collections including Gap, G.E., Capital One, Fortune Magazine, N.B.C, Philip Morris, Media General, Mars and Play inc.  Ed now plays in the bands AVAIL, Heks Orkest, and Corntooth.  He continues to paint murals, create collaborative projects and work as a corporate creative consultant.  Ed has gallery shows nationwide and has his studio in Richmond Virginia where he lives with his beautiful wife and two children.
